Hey Everyone!
As I prepare to head into a new year, I’ve been reflecting on all of the things that happened in 2014. It’s been a great year in so many ways, but there’s one tragic event that overshadows everything. The death of my father. This will be the first of many years that I will not have a chance to say “Happy New Year” to him when the clock strikes Midnight. I’m not sure I’ll ever get over that, or if I even want to. One thing is certain, I will never forget how much fun my family and I had with him when we celebrated New Year’s Eve together. My father was always the life of the party. This year, instead of going to a club or house party, I will be spending NYE right where I belong, with my family. I’m looking forward to hanging out with them and reminiscing about how awesome our father was. So what’s a girl to wear for a night with the fam? Well I plan on wearing the casual, yet sophisticated Anika Sweater Dress from J. Jill.
As I mentioned in a previous post, sweater dresses can be worn in a variety of different ways. Since I’ll be hanging out causally with my family, I’ve elected not to wear a belt. Events with my family always include amazing food so I want to make sure my dress doesn’t fit to close to my tummy. That doesn’t mean I don’t want to look sophisticated though…hence my reason for wearing tall heeled boots and the Inverness Paisley Scarf from J. Jill. I paired my boots with knee-high socks for a little fun and added a hat in dedication of my dad…he LOVED wearing his cowboy hat!
Here’s my look:
