Hey Everyone!
After a fabulous first night in Athens, Melanie and I got an early start the next morning for our ferry ride down to Mykonos. Before I get to the adorable midi dress I wore from Lulus.com, it’s important for me to note that we used a Greek travel agency to book our trip. The reason it’s important to mention is because the travel agency did all of the leg work for us. All we had to do was show up and meet with them to receive our vouchers for everything we booked. I highly recommend that you do the same if you ever plan to visit Greece because it takes a load off. Booking locally also means that you get better deals on ferry rides as well as lower rates at the hotels. There are travel agencies all over Greece so it’s not hard to find them online, but if you’re interested, the agency we used was Fantasy Travel.
If you’re going to take ferries in Greece (which is the cheaper way to go), there are a few things you should know. The ferries are huge and they carry a lot of people which means you need to be prepared for what feels like a cattle call. There’s no real regard for personal space or order so everyone is rushing to get on the ferry. Seats are assigned so there’s absolutely no reason to rush. Be sure to wear something comfortable AND warm because the ferries can get VERY cold. I learned the hard way because I chose to wear shorts (like a dumb dumb) and nearly froze to death. After almost 3 hours of total discomfort due to freezing on the ferry, then getting left at the port by the hotel’s driver, Melanie and I finally made it to the Grand Beach Hotel to see this view:
Seriously, how stunning is that?! We both couldn’t believe how lucky we were to be there. After getting checked in, we made our way to our room to get showered and changed for our first day. My outfit du jour was the beautifully delicate Az-Take A Breather Embroidered Ivory Midi Dress from Lulu*s. Since it was super hot out, this airy midi dress was JUST the thing I needed. I don’t have to tell you how important it is to wear breathable fabrics when the temperatures are high. The dress is so light that it felt like I didn’t have anything on…which was a plus. I’m in love with this dress!
Here’s my look:

Our hotel was located not too far from Mykonos Town which is where everyone goes to eat, shop and watch the sunset. As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, the Greek are all about fantastic views so it’s important to find a great spot before the sun goes down. I remembered reading that the most breathtaking sunsets took place by the windmills. It wasn’t hard to find them because there were tons of people headed in the same direction (they obviously got the memo). The reviews I read online could not have been more accurate. Check this out:
Once the sun sets, the town starts to come alive. We saw quite a few ladies dressed to the nines to go out for the evening and tourists are everywhere taking pictures of all the beautiful scenery. It was exciting to be in the midst of all of that.
Here are a few shots of Mykonos Town:
Our first day was chock full of site seeing, shopping for souvenirs…AND walking. LOTS and LOTS of walking. We literally walked until our feet were sore. After grabbing dessert at a restaurant called D’Angelo in Little Italy, we made our way back to the hotel for the night and by that time it was really late. Ever been so tired that you don’t dream or move at all while you’re asleep? Well that’s how tired I was. I’m pretty sure I slept like a log. LOL! I can’t wait to share more about Mykonos with you tomorrow! See you soon!
Is a casual midi dress a must have item for you when you travel? I know it is for me!
