Hey Everyone!
I’m back from one of the most amazing weekends EVER! On Thursday night, my nephew Richard and I hit the highway for our road trip. The destination? Charleston Fashion Week 2014! Since this would be my first time ever attending a fashion week, I had no idea what to expect. I have to say, this trip went far beyond my expectations. While Charleston is a small southern city, it’s definitely NOT devoid of that southern charm we always hear about. The area around Marion Square where the events were held is so gorgeous…with cute little boutiques and pastry cafes along the way. On the streets, there was live street music playing and people were everywhere. Oh! And the weather was SO beautiful!
As my nephew and I arrived at the tents to pick up our media credentials, the first thing we saw were some lovely “live” models standing on a platform, dressed from head to toe in Kate Spade. They all looked so pretty, and the bright colors they wore literally screamed out “Spring!” We then made our way to the Belk tent for some shopping! I mean, did you really think I’d go all the way to Charleston and NOT buy anything? LOL! To my surprise, the first booth I saw when I walked in was Atlanta based designer Suakoko Betty. I’ve admired her clothing for a while now and was so happy to see that her unique and fun dresses are now available at Belk! I just had to have one for myself 🙂 By the time we left the Belk tent, people had now arrived for the main event and were spread out all over. I have to say, I was quite impressed with this city AND with the level of style represented by the crowd at Marion Square. Charleston is definitely staking its claim on the fashion scene!
