Hey Afaconados!
I really look forward to Sunday afternoon photo shoots with my nephew and photographer Richard. We’re super close so I never feel awkward around him. I can make funny faces, act silly if I want, and use that time to catch up on how things are going in his life. It’s awesome! What I love most about us working together, is that although I always know what I’ll be wearing for the shoot that day, I never know where the shoot location will be. Part of the fun is discovering that with him. We literally drive around until we find a spot that piques our interest.
I hope that you guys know enough about me by now to know that while I do love pretty things, I’m not necessarily a flowers and butterflies kind of girl. I think it’s important to find the “pretty” in things that are commonly deemed “ugly”…to see the diamond in the rough. In thinking about the outfit for today’s look, I thought it would be a great opportunity to choose such a location. As my nephew and I were driving, I said to him, “I wanna go somewhere like an abandoned building or something”. We’re always on the same wavelength so he readily agreed. And as luck would have it, we didn’t drive long before we stumbled upon the perfect spot. I’m pretty sure there used to be a building in this spot, but it had apparently been destroyed long ago…all that was left was graffiti and rubble. PERFECT! This shoot was the last of the day (I did 3) and it turned out to be my absolute favorite. I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better spot. We had so much fun!
Here are the details of my outfit:
Shirt: Skies Are Blue Short Sleeve Plaid Button Down // $69 at Piperlime
Jeans: Skinny Denim Jeans // $35 at Target
Jacket: Olive Green Anorak // H&M (sold out, but similar here)
Shoes: Cutout Ankle Boots // $70 at Urbanoutfitters
And here’s my look:

And then the fun began….
I’m so glad that I get to work with my nephew. He’s such a creative person that he brings it out in me as well. This was a fantastic day and I’m glad we chose a spot that most people wouldn’t look at twice. Love you nephew!
How do you find the beauty in things that aren’t looked on as being beautiful?
Until next time!
