Hey Everyone!
I hope you’re all ready for the week! The weather in Atlanta was beautiful this weekend, but it’s definitely starting to get a little nippy outside. We’re officially moving into the “real” sweater season. That means it’s time for us to talk about how to dress up a basic sweater. You’d be surprised how a few easy tips can help you get more use out of the ones you have in your closet. I’m not sure about you, but sweaters seem to be the one item I never have enough of. That’s why it’s important for me to get leverage out of them.
Here are 3 of my favorite tips:
- Wear a Statement Necklace – The phenomenon of bold statement necklaces has not passed yet. If you have them, please pull them out. Statement necklaces do a GREAT job of dressing up a basic sweater. Especially when they’re brightly colored!
- Wear a Statement Scarf – This tip is not meant for just any scarf. It’s meant for that scarf you’re afraid to ruin so you don’t wear it often. This is where your vintage Hermés scarf comes in. I have one that my best friend gave me for Christmas last year and it’s the perfect scarf to dress up any sweater, shirt or even dress!
- Layer with a White Button-Down Shirt – Nothing says stylish like a crisp, white button-down shirt. Layering your sweater with one of these will keep you warm AND add some sophistication!
Today, I added my favorite statement necklace with a simple yellow sweater I got from The Limited. I love putting yellow and navy together, so I’m wearing some navy blue trousers from Ann Taylor. This was such an easy way to dress up a basic sweater. I was also able to add some additional color with the necklace!
