Hey Afaconados!
There is absolutely nothing that compares to the feeling you get when you do something that benefits someone less fortunate than yourself. In the article I wrote previously about how to go shopping in your own closet, one of my suggestions was to give your clothing a time limit. If you don’t wear certain items within the timeframe you’ve set, then donate them to charity so someone else can reap the benefits. I honestly wouldn’t suggest giving back if I didn’t do it myself. Every year, I donate 2-3 large bags of clothing and shoes to Goodwill. I also volunteer for Hosea Williams Feed the Hungry and Homeless at different events held by the organization.
Today, I’d like to highlight 3 fabulous charities. Being the Fashionista that I am, you know I had to choose charities that incorporate fashion.
Here they are:
1. TOMS – Not only are these shoes hip, stylish AND terribly comfortable, but for every pair of purchased shoes, TOMS matches a pair of new shoes with a child in need. I own a few pairs of TOMS and I never feel bad about spending the money on them because I know a child in need will receive a pair as well.
2. Dress For Success – Provides professional attire, support and career development for disadvantaged women.
3. Treasure House Fashions – Provides help for women who are victims of domestic violence, facing financial ruin and reentering the workplace.
It’s easy for us to go about our daily lives not thinking about how blessed we are, but we all need to take a look around and help where you can. Giving is easy. Do it.
Until next time!
