Hey Everyone!
I know I usually save my casual looks for Fridays but I thought I’d switch things up a bit. I’m started off this week by going green and featuring my casual St. Patrick’s Day style! Buying a green t-shirt is something I do every year in honor of my Irish grandmother. I started doing it when I was in high school and have continued to do it every year since then. Though I’ve often been told that I look like my grandmother, I never got a chance to meet her. This tradition has become my way of being close to her. It’s not common knowledge to people that aren’t Jamaican that Jamaica is full of people mixed with Irish and Scottish. So I always get surprised faces when I tell people that yes, I’m Jamaican but Irish is part of my mixture…along with a bunch of other things 🙂 I had a cute t-shirt made on Zazzle last year that says, “Kiss Me, I’m Jamaican-Irish”. That t-shirt continues to be a favorite of mine.
After purchasing a green t-shirt every year for a number of years, I like to think that I’m an expert. I’ve learned that the best time to buy a t-shirt for St. Patty’s Day is a few days before. By then, t-shirts will have gone on sale and you can get them super cheap. I got the one I’m wearing today from Target. I was surprised to see that they didn’t have a great selection. They’re usually good about having an abundance of graphic t-shirts for occasions like this. They have better prices than most other places though so I selected their “Kiss Me, I’m Lucky” Raglan Tee.
Here’s my look:
