Hey Afaconados!
As I'm sure you're all aware by now, Hurricane Sandy was a MONSTER of a storm that caused significant damage up the Eastern Seaboard from North Carolina to Maine, with the majority of the damage centered in New York and New Jersey. Although I'm more than relieved to know that members of my family (including my brother Michael and his family) are safe, there are countless others that were no where near as lucky as they were.
As is generally the case, organizations designed to provide disaster relief have begun the difficult task of getting to ground zero and beginning their efforts. But these organizations cannot exist without the help of the people. That's people like YOU and ME.
If you haven't yet, and you're in a position to, please consider making a donation to the Red Cross or any other organization you trust that is accepting donations for this effort. According to an article I found which is located here, the Red Cross has stated that monetary donations are really what they need most right now. Please believe me when I say that every bit helps. Your contribution doesn't need to be a large sum. EVERY BIT HELPS.
To make sure you guys know that I don't just write about this stuff, Here is a picture of my donation confirmation:
