Hey Afaconados!
I am BEYOND excited about today’s post because it combines two of my favorite things…Fashion and Charity! I was recently contacted by NONE OTHER THAN Warby Parker with a request to help them launch their new Fall Collection for 2013, and I have to say, as an owner of my own pair of Warby Parker frames, I am TRULY honored.
My True Story:
I was in the 9th grade when my mother realized that I needed glasses. Along with feeling like I would become the laughing stock of my entire school, as a budding fashionista, I was even MORE concerned about how wearing glasses would affect my personal style. Long story short, I hated the frames I picked out (after hours of looking) and ended up getting contacts. I refused to wear my glasses out in public and resolved to only wearing them while at home. Fast forward to last year, I bought a REALLY expensive pair of designer frames (I scoff now just thinking about how much I paid for them). Even though they were more stylish than my previous pair, I still barely wore them. It wasn’t until I bought my first pair of Warby Parker frames this year that I actually began to look forward to wearing my glasses IN PUBLIC…and not only that, I’ve received numerous compliments!
In case you’ve been hiding under a rock somewhere and have never heard of Warby Parker (seriously?), they have an amazing business model. Along with free shipping, free home try-ons and pricing that is MORE THAN reasonable (ranges are from $95-$150 and include lenses)…for every pair of frames sold, Warby Parker provides a pair of frames to someone in need. Honestly, shopping has never been so fulfilling!
Pulling inspiration from the early sixties in America, the Fall 2013 Collection is rich with bold accents of acetate, strategically placed autumnal colors (at the brow and nose) and stainless steel-rimmed lenses. The names – Ames, Ripley, Rowan, Holcomb and Ellison were selected to pay homage to some of the literary figures of that time. As an avid fan of books, I’m especially impressed with this touch.
And now, without further adieu, here’s a peek at the Fall 2013 Collection….

After having the opportunity to view the collection before the actual release (how freaking exciting?!), I already know which ones I plan to order for my next free home try-on. Wanna see my favorites?
Here they are:
Aside from being able to help someone in need by purchasing a pair of these chic, affordable frames, I have to say that the home try-on feature is another favorite of mine. To ensure that you select a pair of frames you really LOVE, Warby Parker will send you 5 pairs of frames to try for 5 days, absolutely FREE. Um, yep, you heard me right…I said FREE! You can’t beat that kind of deal, and I guarantee you’ll find a pair you can’t live without. Speaking of which, you know I just HAD to show off my very own pair. I have the Theo in Whiskey Tortoise:

Thank you so much for your comment! I love them too! It was so hard for me to decide which ones I would want to try on, but now that I’ve picked my 5, I can’t wait to do my home try-on so I can make my next purchase. I LOVE the ones I have now!

It’s always hard to tell how the glasses look unless they are live action pictures. Thanks for this very helpful post!!

These are great glasses. I am weird, I actually want glasses and I don’t need them.

Hi Shannon! A lot of people wear frames that don’t need glasses so I say go for it! Unfortunately, I’ve been wearing glasses since I was 13 years old. Everyone in my family is as blind as a bat. LOL!
