Hey Afaconados!
I wanted to use today's Thanksgiving article to bring awareness to a very important event that has been taking place since the beginning of this month. It's called Movember. I first heard about Movember from some of my male coworkers last year. Since I work in a primarily male office, there are times when I'm privy to some of the "guy talk" that goes on (cool huh?). There had been a lot of talk amongst the guys about growing moustaches for the month of November. Although I laughed while listening to them talk about growing long, ridiculous moustaches…once they explained what Movember is about, I was very impressed because it's such a good cause.
Movember is an event focused on raising awareness and funds for men's health issues, most specifically for prostate and testicular cancer. It's an event that has gone global since its inception, inspiring around 1.9 million men AND women to take part.
ATTENTION GUYS: There's still time to get involved. Here's how:
1. Register at www.movember.com.
2. Males, start out the month clean shaven.
3. For the rest of the month men will groom, trim and wax to get the perfect moustache.
4. At the end of the month, Mo Bros and Mo Sistas celebrate by either throwing their own Movember party or attending one of the many parties held around the world for this event.
So all of you ladies out there might be saying….HOW CAN I SUPPORT THIS CAUSE SINCE I CAN'T GROW A MOUSTACHE? The best way to show your support is by urging your fathers, brothers, male friends, boyfriends and husbands to get involved if they're not already and supporting them if they already are. Thanks to my new friend and fellow blogger Megan Elliott of Lush to Blush, and her connections at Golden Stella, I was lucky enough to get my own piece of Moustache Jewelry which I just LOVE! Here are some pictures of my lovely moustache ring:
Please visit the Movember website at http://us.movember.com register or make a donation. I'd like to send out a very special thanks to Golden Stella for providing me with such a fantastic piece of jewelry and for allowing me to take part in this very important cause!
Happy Thanksgiving Afaconados!
Until next time!
