Hey Everyone!
Working from home for almost a year now has caused me to lose touch with reality. Sometimes I forget that not everyone goes to work in their pajamas. LOL! Just to be clear, I don’t really do that. I make it a point to get up and get dressed every day before I start working. 🙂 I do know that most offices nowadays have relaxed on their dress code rules. That makes it so much easier for people who don’t have a closet full of professional clothing. If you work in a casual office setting it’s important to remember that there are still rules on how to dress. The good thing is that it’s not hard to keep casual clothing professional. Since we’re talking about casual dress and not business casual, then most likely jeans are fair game. It’s important to note that casual and “business” casual mean two different things. If you’re allowed to wear jeans to work then the rest of the outfit will be super easy.
Here are a few simple rules on what NOT to wear with jeans in an office setting:
- Do NOT wear low cut shirts
- Do NOT wear sheer (or see-through) shirts
- Do NOT wear spaghetti strapped tank tops
- Do NOT wear shirts that are too tight
- Do NOT wear graphic t-shirts with explicit messages or pictures on them
Basically, the easiest way to keep casual clothing professional is to use your head. If you have any questions at all about whether or not you should be wearing something to work, then most likely you shouldn’t. For my look today, I’m keeping it simple in a rollup shirt with skinny jeans and ankle boots. In my post on Monday I talked about accessorizing outfits for the office by adding a beautiful scarf. I did that again today.
Here’s my look:
