Hey Everyone,
I’m back from Greece and I can’t begin to tell you how wonderful my trip was. I had some sad moments thinking about my father’s passing (which I expected), but my bestie Melanie helped to ensure that I had a great time. I’m excited to recap the trip with you this week so you can see some of the gorgeous views we got to see on the islands. Our trip began with 1 night in Athens. We wanted to make the most of it so we quickly headed to our hotel to get changed. If you’re looking for a modern hotel with a fantastic view, Hotel New is the place to go. The service and food are AMAZING and the view from the rooftop bar cannot be matched. First up on my list of Greece inspired looks was the super cute Oh Em Geode Blue Print Dress from Lulus.com. I’ve always been a big fan of shirt dresses because they’re casual, yet chic at the same time. They also provide versatility because you can wear them with a denim jacket, blazer, heels, flats OR sandals. Of course I elected to wear my gladiator sandals…how typical is that? 🙂 The color of this dress provided the perfect pop of color against the neutral tones in Athens.
After freshening up, Melanie and I hit the streets of Athens, making our way towards the Acropolis. I have to say, we had absolutely NO idea how hot it would be in Greece. For some reason we thought it would be cooler since it was September, but boy were we wrong! It was HOT! Needless to say, we realized pretty quickly that the outfits we selected for the journey weren’t necessarily appropriate for hiking. We were feeling ourselves though. LOL!
Here’s my look:

The best advice I can give if you plan to visit the Acropolis is to wear sneakers, shorts and a tank top. Drink plenty of water and be prepared to sweat! The walk to the Acropolis is up hill and VERY steep. Shirt dresses, while adorable, just aren’t a great choice for taking a hike. Although it wasn’t a fun trip to the top of the hill, what you see when you do finally get there is quite breathtaking:
On our walking tour that day, we also paid a visit to the new Acropolis Museum. It’s interesting that amid all of the ruins sits this very modern, beautifully constructed museum. Some of the flooring on the ground floor of the museum is made of sturdy glass to allow you to see through to the ruins beneath your feet! We had a great time seeing all of the statues. It’s surreal being in the room with artifacts that are so old yet so well preserved:
After a fabulous first day of exploration, it was back to the hotel for showers and then off to dinner at Strofi. Greece is all about fantastic views, so if you find yourself there, be on the lookout for dinner spots and hotels that have them. Strofi has an incredible view of the Acropolis and the food is superb! Although the first day was a whirlwind, we had a blast. Be sure to stick with me this week as I continue my recap of the trip and head over to Lulu*s to see more cute shirt dresses like the one I wore in Athens! Next up…Mykonons!
Do you like shirt dresses? I bet you’d never wear one to go hiking! LOL!

Thank you Girl! It’s really hard to do recaps because while you don’t want to bore the audience, you also don’t want to leave out important stuff. 🙂
