Hey Everyone!
Because I’m a true bohemian at heart, one of my favorite stores is Anthropologie. The problem with shopping at that store is that everything is WAY too expensive. When I do visit, I always stay away from the front of the store. The sale rack is located in the back and even on sale, the clothing too pricey. Good thing I know about shopping smart! If you’re a savvy shopper like I am, you can find comparable or even identical items from some of your favorite stores at prices way lower than retail. Last week, I was contacted by Erin Ballard, Community Outreach Coordinator at Credit Card Insider. She reached out to invite me to join in on their “Splurge vs. Save” campaign. The challenge was to show a pricey item or items that I’ve scored for a cheaper price. Now you know I LOVE a challenge, so I gladly accepted! I’m excited to show you what I came up with!
I have to say, the timing of this challenge couldn’t have been better because I got my feelings hurt during a recent online visit to Anthropologie. There were a pair of adorable joggers that I wanted so badly but did not want to pay the $88 price tag for. After making the hard decision to walk away from the pants, I struck gold! One of my “Go To” discount stores has always been TJ Maxx. There’s really never a time that I go in the store and NOT find something I fall in love with. This visit turned out to be very special though because as soon as I walked in the store, I immediately saw the same EXACT joggers I wanted from Anthropologie! No, I’m not joking! The pants were $39, half of what they would have been. I was even able to score an adorable top for $34 to go with my pants that is also available at Anthropologie. The original price of the top was also $88. So what I would have had to pay $176 (plus tax) for only wound up costing me $81! I literally got two items for the price of 1! How’s that for shopping smart?
Here are the original items:

This was such a fun challenge to participate in, especially since I don’t believe in paying full price for anything. If you ever find something online that is just way out of your price range, you should definitely search elsewhere before splurging. Shopping smart is easy, but it does take more time and loads of patience. I hope you enjoyed joining me on the “Splurge vs. Save” challenge!
So, how do you practice shopping smart?
