Hey Everyone!
Can you imagine having the power to change a person’s life just by purchasing a pair of shoes? Well, you absolutely can! I was recently contacted by an amazing company called Sseko Designs (pronounced “Say-Ko”) to help raise awareness about their brand and movement. There’s nothing I love more than fashion with a purpose. I’m honored to be one of 30 bloggers participating in the Sseko Designs “30 Days, 30 Ways to Educate Women in Africa” campaign. Based in Uganda, this ethical fashion brand is working to provide opportunities for marginalized women in East Africa to end the cycle of poverty by creating a more equitable society.
The gorgeous leather sandals that Sseko offers on their site are not only crafted by Ugandan women, but they also serve as an example of how ethical fashion is helping to end the cycle of poverty. Sseko’s leather sandals are really cool! They have interchangeable fabric straps that you can switch out when you want a different look. So basically, all you have to do is buy a pair of sandals, then purchase the fabric straps to make it look like you’re wearing a different pair shoes each time! I love that! Since I can’t stop daydreaming about my upcoming trip to Greece, I immediately selected the Santorini Sandals. When I received my pair of shoes, they came with an adorable gold bangle that had the name and story of one of the female artisans engraved in it. Her name is “Topister” and here is her story….
“Topister comes from a family of seven girls, which taught her how to get her voice heard. She hopes to put those skills to good use one day as a lawyer or advocate for human rights.”
You go girl! With each purchase, you are helping a girl like Topister get a college education so she can help her family. There really is nothing better than that.
Here’s my look:
