Another weekend in 2014 is over…time really flies doesn’t it? This weekend was a good one too! My niece Ashleigh’s 18th birthday was on Sunday so after my nephew and I wrapped up our shoot for the day, we swung by to pick her up. Her only request for her birthday was to get some Bubble Tea. Ever since I introduced her to it last year, she has been in LOVE! For those of you who have never heard of bubble tea, it’s a Taiwanese tea-based drink that typically is mixed with either fruit or milk. The bottom of the drink contains these little tapioca pearls that you can eat and they give you this big straw so that it’s easy to get the pearls through them. They don’t have much of a taste to me really, but I do enjoy chewing on them, and it’s what makes drinking bubble tea so much fun. It might sound weird, but it has become quite a craze here in Atlanta. Although my nephew loved the taste of his lavender tea, he was less than impressed with the tapioca pearls. We got a great laugh out of the faces he kept making every time he ate one. LOL! In case you’re wondering, the place we went to is called Honey Bubble Tea and it’s located on Ponce de Leon Avenue in Midtown.
I’m usually pretty good about packing up all of my summer clothing when fall and winter come around, but for some reason, I forgot to pack up the dress I wore to my birthday dinner last year. It was a lovely sleeveless, tweed and boucle dress that I purchased from Three Floor. I’m actually pretty glad I forgot to pack it too because I wouldn’t have been able to pull off today’s look if I had. As I went through my normal routine on Saturday of looking for outfits to wear for my shoot on Sunday, I kept coming back to my birthday dress. I knew there was no way I could pull off wearing a sleeveless dress in 45 degree weather, nor would I EVER want to. So, I decided that I would simply winterize my summer dress so that I could. It’s really easy to winterize your summer dress. By layering it with a button down shirt and adding tights, I now had the perfect winter dress!
Here’s my look:

NOTE: The first picture in this set is INTERACTIVE and SHOPPABLE
This was the easiest outfit to come up with, seriously. I’ve really enjoyed exploring my closet to discover new ways to wear things. If you plan to try this, just make sure the shirt you choose to layer is a good match with the pattern and fabric of your dress.
Will you try to winterize your summer dress this winter?
Until next time!

Hi Shannon! Thank you! It snowed this Tuesday in Atlanta but our weather is so up and down lately that I don’t even know what to wear anymore 🙂
