My birthday came and went yesterday. I can’t believe how fast time flies. While I won’t be revealing how old I am, I still feel like I’m 21. I guess that’s a good thing, right? LOL! I grew up in the 80s era. It’s funny to see how popular the clothing still is. Countless movies have been made with people wearing 80s inspired style. I have to admit, I still love it myself. It’s true what they say about fashion, “What goes around, comes around”. It’s pretty easy to mimic the 80s. All you need are a few key pieces like a chunky knit sweater, tulle skirt, or lace of some kind (to name a few). Speaking of chunky knit sweaters, I got a great one from Closet Barcode recently that looks like it came straight out of the 80s! You may remember me talking about Closet Barcode in a previous post. I mentioned that what I love about this site is that it supports independent designers. I also like the idea of buying a piece that’s unique. I can’t tell you how much it irks me to see everyone wearing the same things all the time.
For my outfit today, I’m wearing the Double Diamond Black and White Sweater. The striped diamond patterns and chunky look of the sweater make it perfect for 80s inspired style. I paired it with my distressed denim jeans and porkpie hat, then popped some color with my red New Balance sneakers. I absolutely love how this turned out! I even added a fat gold chain to top off of the 80s vibe!
Here’s my look:
