Hey Afaconados!
Today’s article is dedicated to the late Grace Kelly, also known as “Her Serene Highness The Princess of Monaco”.
Grace Kelly on Fashion: “If there is one thing that is foreign to me it is shopping for pleasure. On the other hand, I believe that it is right to honor all those who create beautiful things and give satisfaction to those who see me wearing them.”
You know you’re a style icon when your clothing has been put on display in art exhibitions spanning several countries 30 years after your death. Not to mention the fact that one of the most expensive, most sought after handbags in the world (the Hermes Kelly Bag) has been named after you.
Grace Kelly’s name has become synonymous with the words Poise, Elegance, Style and ironically, her own name, Grace. Although the beautiful actress, turned real life princess chose not to wear styles that were overtly expressive or controversial, her staple on fashion left a mark on the fashion industry that continues to inspire designers today. Even the newly crowned Duchess of Cambridge, Catherine Middleton’s wedding gown was inspired by the dress Grace wore when she wed Prince Rainier. Despite being quoted as saying that she did not spend a great deal of money on her clothes, Grace wore the designs of Christian Dior, Edith Head and Givenchy (none of whom are affordable).
Grace Kelly’s style was elegant, pure and simple. Her chosen style included circle skirts, well-cut tweed suits, beautiful evening gowns, low-heeled shoes, a fur stole and her signature string of fitted pearls. Here’s a flashback:
Style….truly fit for a princess!
