As the daughter of a father who paints, plays the guitar and makes sculptures out of metal and wood…I developed a love of the Arts at a young age. That’s why I was BEYOND excited to attend the Red Bull Curates: Canvas Cooler Project event held at the Westside Cultural Arts Center in Midtown last Thursday.
In preparation for the event, 20 of Atlanta’s most talented, emerging artists were tasked with creating a functional piece of art out of a canvas-wrapped Red Bull cooler. After all of the pieces passed through a luminary panel of judges, two artists were selected to participate in SCOPE’s Art Show during Art Basel week in Miami this December. The lucky two will have the opportunity to show and sell their art.
Wanna know who won? Sarah Emerson and Sam Parker were the lucky two. I’m so glad I wasn’t one of the judges because in my opinion, all of the pieces were nothing less than AMAZING! I SO wish I was an artist….clearly some things are NOT passed down in the gene pool. LOL!
Anywho, here are some of the artists during the creative process:

The contemporary space was filled from wall to wall with Atlanta’s art loving crowd, while complimentary Red Bull inspired drinks were served at the bar. I was so happy to finally get a chance to meet Danasia of The Urban Realist, a digital lifestyle magazine that covers everything from film reviews to advice on where to find the most affordable organic food in Atlanta. Thanks to my friend Megan, Creator of the Lush to Blush Fashion and Lifestyle Blog, I’ve become quite a fan of Danasia’s online mag. Please be sure to check both of them out!
I had so much fun at the event that I completely forgot I had to go to my 9-5 the next morning. Needless to say, this night was definitely a 10!
Here are a few of my favorite pieces:
So, what’s your favorite Red Bull flavor? After this event, mine is Blueberry!
Until next time!
