To conclude my FABULOUS birthday celebration last weekend, we had a family brunch at my mom and dad’s house on Sunday. The turnout was AMAZING and the food was even better! We’re Jamaican, so of course we had to do a mixture of Jamaican breakfast foods AND American breakfast foods. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a spread like the one we had! There was literally so much food that people were able to take home at least 2 plates of leftovers. I’ve mentioned in previous articles (like THIS one) that my goal this year was to spend more time with my family, so I decided to plan this event for just that reason. We were lucky to have my Uncle Eric in town from England, so he came along with my cousin Maria and her daughter Shelley whom I haven’t seen in such a long time even though they live in Atlanta…I know, how shameful is that?
Since I promised my mother that I would arrive early to help her set up, I knew it would cause issues for me when it came to taking pictures for outfit posts this week. At my birthday celebration the night before, I was lucky to receive a gorgeous statement necklace from my bestie, so I decided that I would wear a casual outfit and POP it with my new statement necklace from Zara! I’m very pleased with the outcome. My outfit was casual enough for me to be comfortable that day, and had enough pizzazz to get some great shots! If you’re ever going to a casual function and you don’t want to feel too “under-dressed”, adding a statement necklace or chunky earrings can really spice up your outfit!
Here’s my look:

Isn’t that the most beautiful necklace ever?!! Thanks so much to my friend Kimya for picking it out for me! I have to say, ending the weekend with my family was the icing on the cake! I had such a great time spending time with my dad and hanging out with my siblings!
So, how do you wear your statement necklace?
Until next time!
