Hey, Everyone!
What do you think of when you hear the word HOME? It has many meanings depending on the person, right? For a newly married couple, it could mean exciting, new beginnings. For an older couple that has been married for years, it could mean longevity and stability. For a soldier just returning from the war, it could mean safety and an opportunity to reconnect with loved ones. For a homeless person, it means shelter. For me, home means love, laughter, and family. No matter what it means to YOU, I think it’s safe to say that home is the key to happiness. I’m excited to help raise awareness for Habitat for Humanity’s Home is the Key campaign this year. It’s a cause that I am honored to be a part of.
Did you know that in Georgia, 1 in 8 households spend more than half of their income on housing? Or that there’s an estimated shortage of 220,925 affordable and available housing units for extremely low-income renters? Those are only “some” of the statistics in my home state. Can you imagine what this looks like across the country?
Since 1976, Habitat for Humanity has been dedicated to helping families in communities across the country and around the world build and improve the places they call home. In case you’re wondering what the best part about that is, it’s that they can’t do it alone. With the help of people like you and I, we can make a difference in the lives of families all over the world!
Before I continue, here’s a sneak peek of my home:
This year, Habitat for Humanity has partnered with amazing brands like Chico’s FAS, At Home, Nest, Nissan, and O-Cedar to offer products and initiatives that give back. All you have to do to get involved is go shopping or tag #HomeIsTheKey on social media! That’s easy, right?! For example, if you shop Chico’s FAS brands, which includes Chico’s, Soma Intimates, and White House Black Market, then Habitat for Humanity will receive a $5 donation for every gift card of $25 or more sold during April and May. Need a reason to visit? Then how about this super cute Cotton Slub Tee I’m wearing today from Chico’s? I LOVE how soft it is and the pastel pink color is PERFECTION!
Check it out:
The bottom line is that decent, affordable housing can help to create a monumental change in the lives of those that need it. I can’t even imagine how my life would be affected if I had to worry about having a proper roof over my head. Having an affordable home can mean freeing up much-needed family resources for things like nutritious food and health care expenses.

I love Habitat for Humanity! What an amazing organization! I had the privilege of helping to build a home in Hanover Park, Il this Spring. We worked right alongside of the single Mom and her 18 year old daughter who would be purchasing the home. She also has 2 younger children that weren’t able to be there. It was a women build weekend. All of the workers were women except for the tradesmen who taught us what to do. I even got to use a circular saw! Enjoyed your post and blog!
